Sunrise on the horizon of the Outback
I snapped this photo during a sunrise hike at Arkaba Station, a five-bedroom luxury homestead from the 1850s in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia (one of the continent’s most-ancient landscapes). That’s Kat, our Aussie guide, who helped us spot the wildlife as they came to life at dawn. The light and the silence in this moment were memorizing and awe-inspiring. You could just stand here and stare at the changing colors of the ranges and 800 million years of Earth’s existence stares right back at you.
