Archaeological Museum of Vólos
This is an excellent town museum housed in a 1909 neoclassical building. It boasts artifacts from all around Northern Greece, including many uncommon finds alongside the usual statuary. These include paintings from grave stelae and figurines that date back more than 8,000 years. The nearby Neolithic settlements of Dimini and Sesklo, which are also well worth a visit, contain the remains of a Mycenaean palace and a pair of tholos tombs.
