With over 100 farmstead and artisan cheeses in their case, Aperitivo is - hands downs - the best cheese shop in Michigan. It gives shops in big cities a run for their money. The time and effort that the Aperitivo cheesemongers put into caring for, cutting and wrapping cheese is remarkable. There is an impressive variety of goat, sheep, cow and buffalo - both raw and pasteurized - cheeses from all over the world.
Plus, behind the cheese retail counter is an amazing bar - curating a hand-picked selection from the case to serve with drinks. Patrons can drink wine, beer and cider from all over the world, while enjoying a beautiful and well-composed plate. With only a panini press in their "kitchen," all the dishes are truly about the purity of the cheese.
I enjoyed a special feature menu item of grilled brie with fresh peaches and mint. It was paired with a limited release Grand Rapids beer and was outstanding.
If you are anywhere within driving distance of Grand Rapids, do yourself a favor and stop by Aperitivo. You will not be disappointed.
