Located underneath the highest mountain of Crete "Psiloritis" in the area of Rethymnon. Traveling to this place makes you feel like home because of the warm & welcoming people. Walking in the cobblestone streets of the village you can find out the "traditional" way of living in Crete. Men wearing black shirts ,in majority, having long mustache, holding rosaries on hand, having their coffee at the central cafe' and narrating old stories & on the other side, women sitting along the central square, knitting by hand table runners and cloths to give away as gifts, or even to decorate the house and singing traditional songs. The traditional "Raki", the Cretan beverage and the cheesepie dressed with honey are waiting to be tasted by everyone! It would be perfect if there was a Cretan feast, called "Glenti", so you could live the experience of the Cretan hospitality, music and the unique way to celebrate! One last thing, before you leave "Anogeia", make sure you have tasted the traditional dish with lamb and the way they cook it by lighting a fire on the street and placing the lambs all over the fire on skewers. The Perfect Experience. Enjoy!
