Exploring Terceira´s capital city, Angra do Heroismo
Angra do Heroismo (Angra for short) is the capital of the Azorean island of Terceira and also the historical capital of the Azores as it is the archipelago's oldest city, dating back to 1450. It was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1983 and boasts many well preserved examples of colonial Portuguese architecture. The city itself is worthy of at least a day or 2 of exploration and is also a good base for exploring the rest of the island as there are a wider variety of accommodation options that in other towns.
