St. John’s Cathedral

Church St, St John's, Antigua and Barbuda

In a region not exactly known for its ornate churches, this beautiful cathedral is a standout. Built in 1681, rebuilt in 1745 and then reconstructed once again in 1845, this splendid hilltop church features an elaborate pinewood interior and Baroque twin spires topped with aluminum cupolas. The iron south gate is flanked by bronze statues of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Divine.
