Andrew Jackson’s HermitagePresident Andrew Jackson owned this historic plantation, called the Hermitage, from 1804 until his death in 1845. Located about 10 miles east of downtown Nashville, the 1,100-acre site includes a mansion that has been meticulously restored with most of Jackson’s original belongings, as well as a cotton plantation, beautiful gardens, and the tomb where Jackson and his wife, Rachel, are buried. Costumed tour guides lead guests through the mansion, telling the stories, history, and lore behind each room, while a state-of-the-art exhibition details Jackson’s rise from humble beginnings to the president of the United States.
