The Napa Valley loves its charming inns and luxury wine-focused resorts, but it was only a matter of time before a hip, young boutique hotel opened with a trendier style (and price tag) to attract all those San Francisco start-up types. The first Northern California outpost of Hyatt’s cool boutique brand, the Andaz Napa fills a much-needed gap, with its urban design sensibility and lively cocktail bar—because Napa isn’t just about wine. Live music and art exhibitions pop up regularly in the bar, the (nonalcoholic) minibars are free, rooms have two-person soaking tubs right next to the bed, and the attractive young staff are friendly and knowledgeable, happy to offer personalized suggestions or insider tips. Sure, there’s no pool, but the rooftop has a secret lounge area; there might not be a spa, but the hot springs up the road in Calistoga would be better, anyway. And, being in the heart of the city of Napa means that you can explore the streets (lined with farm-to-table restaurants and wine-focused bars) on foot before heading out to visit the wineries around the Valley.

Music Meets Art in Wine Country
When the hip Andaz hotel chain opened in downtown Napa in 2012 it brought a youthful energy to wine country. In addition to its affordable rooms and excellent locavore-minded small plates restaurant, Farmer's Table, the Andaz also gives guests a dose of culture. The brand's Andaz Salon program introduces art, photography, music, and readings throughout its different properties. Currently on display at Andaz Napa's Mercantile Social bar are images of iconic rockers such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Bob Dylan. The photographs are part of an exhibit of works by former Rolling Stone chief photographer Baron Wolman and will be on display through June 2013. Guests should also ask about the hotel's insider itineraries which include the best picnic spots and wineries that offer free tastings.

Andaz Napa Rises From the Quake in Time for Spring
All of you Andaz lovers, it's time to rejoice. After closure to repair damages sustained during the America Canyon earthquake last August, Andaz Napa is ready to welcome guests. I am really overjoyed! This little gem of a hotel in the Hyatt portfolio is located in the heart of Napa town and has 141 guestrooms. Yes the Andaz Farmers Table signature restaurant is open! The Mercantile Social Bar a fave spot for a glass of wine or a whiskey, the meeting and event spaces and outdoor terrace with fire pits, are all renovated and restored. If you have ever spent some time in Napa you know that the Napa community is incredibly supportive of each other. It really is wonderful that Andaz Napa will be ready for the arrival of Spring, a beautiful time of year in Napa.

Luxurious Place to Stay in Napa
The Andaz Napa is a great home base for a Napa Valley trip. Located right downtown, in walking distance to places like Oxbow, the Napa Valley Opera House, and a bevy of delicious restaurants (Oenotri is right across the street.) Super-comfy beds, large rooms, and luxurious bathrooms make it hard to leave. In fact, you might not even be able to leave the massive bathtub.

With the Napa Valley Film Festival office being right next door, I have no excuse but to finish off a tough day at work on Andaz’s terrace with an artisan cocktail from Mercantile Social. It is truly absolute perfection. Also, the hotel features its upcoming events on their unique cultural website andazsalon.com, which always helps me to avoid missing a single great salon event!
