Anchorage Aviation Heritage Museum
This hidden gem offers a wide array of planes that bring Alaska's aviation history and its bush pilots to life. Planes include an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737, 1931 Fairchild American Pilgrim, 1929 Travel Air 6000 and a Douglas World Cruiser, a 1920s airplane that was used in an unsuccessful attempt to circumnavigate the globe. Wander through three connected airplane hangars and visit a control tower with a great view of Lake Hood, the world’s largest and busiest seaplane base, where you can watch floatplanes come and go.
