If I had to write a list of places I'd like to be when the sun comes up, Mui Ne Harbor may sit at the top of that list. Fishermen in floppy hats hauling endless nets off the sea floor, dogs digging in the sand for shellfish scraps, coconut skiffs bobbing on the horizon - and me with my camera. If you make it to Vietnam, you owe it to yourself to visit Mui Ne. Just make sure you get up early when you do it.

Surviving centuries of Chinese domination, French colonization, and civil war, some of the best gossip still happens early in the mornings around a hearty pile of freshly caught anchovies a coracle dumped in the middle of the sand by a tiny fishing village off the Coast of Vietnam. After a year of fermenting in deep, dark wooden barrels, these slippery little suckers will gracefully transform into one of the best seasonings the world has ever tasted....fish sauce, Vietnam’s pride and joy. #Ritual
