This shot was taken from a rowboat at sunset looking toward the U Bein Bridge, the longest teak bridge in the world. Amarapura is the old capital of Myanmar and is an unbelievably serene respite from the dust and mania of Mandalay.
During our fifteen month round-the-world trip we spent 4.5 months in Southeast Asia. One of the absolute highlights was a month spent in Myanmar (Burma).
Heck, as Americans, we were surprised to learn we could enter at all!
But, as we entered Myanmar our camera screen died. Bear in mind, this is one of the most photographic places on the face of the planet, and not knowing whether or not our camera was still functioning we took a chance and captured this moment, hoping for the best. Wow, just a wonderful place to be in the world at that moment.
