Alutiiq Museum
One of the state's most splendid cultural archives celebrates the people who have inhabited the Southcentral Alaska coast for over 7,500 years. Exhibits include ancient antler tools, ceremonial beaded fur caps and a replica
wamwik (traditional house) where children can play. In spring 2016, a skin-covered kayak—collected in the 19th century—will also go on display for a decade. The on-site store stocks many of Kodiak’s best souvenirs, such as petroglyph-print scarves, trade-bead earrings and woven-grass baskets.
