Alonissos Greek island belongs to the Northern Sporades by the coast of Thessaly. Alonissos is a protected area for its numerous endangered species: more than 300 kinds of fish, 80 species of birds, among which the Queen falcon and above all the Monk Seal (Monachus Monachus). There is a reception centre for abandoned Monk sealpups in Steni Vala while at Gerakas there is a biological research station. International Associations and Foundations among which Animal and Nature Care for Life are very much interested in the Alonissos National Sea Park. Alonissos island has an inestimable ecological, geological, biological and scientific interest.
