Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Barcelona, Spain
Almanac BarcelonaWhy we love it: Classy digs and an unbeatable location for a portfolio debut
-A rooftop pool with all-encompassing city views
-A cell phone and tablet for use throughout the stay
-Bold Catalan flavors at onsite eatery Linia
This hotel is the first to open in the Almanac portfolio, a collection of luxury properties with more debuting soon in Vienna, Zagreb, Budapest, and Prague. Situated in L’Eixample, the hotel is footsteps to some of Barcelona’s most prized sights, including Passeig de Gràcia, Casa Batlló, and La Sagrada Familia. Spanish designer Jaime Beriestain helped to bring a sense of understated class to each of the 91 rooms with wood panelling, metallic details, and light linens. Comfort is key, too—rooms greet guests with custom-made king-sized beds, spacious Ibizan marble bathrooms, rainfall showers, and their very own cell phone (for unlimited local calls during the stay). Kick off the day with an in-suite massage before heading to the rooftop for some pool time and snacks from Azimuth, the hotel’s alfresco bar. For more substantial eats, try dinner at Linia, a Mediterranean restaurant that features some of Catalonia’s best flavors, from fresh seafood and grilled meats to artisan breads and cheeses.
