In all honesty, Havana’s not the best place in Cuba to buy arts and crafts, but if this city’s the only one on your Cuba itinerary and you want to buy some handmade wares or artwork as souvenirs, then be sure to stop by Almacenes San José, a massive warehouse-like structure where you can browse through woodwork, leatherwork, paintings, photographs, sculptures and more, all sold directly to the public by the artists who fashioned the pieces. Among the finer items here are handmade humidors—all the better to store those cigars you bought in!
