The Chilean fjord region is home to some of the planet's healthiest glaciers. Despite global warming, a few of the glaciers here are actually growing larger, not smaller. Pia Glacier has become a favorite among ocean cruisers, who enjoy the occasional sight of huge ice chunks calving from its sides to tumble into the sea. Garibaldi, one of the region's largest glaciers, is surrounded by lush rain forest; a glacial waterfall cascades down its slopes into the fjord. The majestic Darwin Range can be seen on the horizon.
