Alaska Rainforest SanctuaryAt this private reserve, you can join a tour led by a naturalist who will show you Alaska’s unique flora and fauna. You may spot bears and bald eagles among forests of cedar and spruce as you hike near salmon-rich Eagle Creek. Along the way, the guide will point out edible plants like salmonberries, wild blueberries and northern rice root. The hike ends with a tour of the historic Herring Bay Lumber Company sawmill, and you can also watch a master totem-pole carver practicing his craft.
