Alaska Botanical Garden
Bring bug spray and wander past more than 1,100 varieties of plants in this family-friendly organic garden. There’s a medicinal and culinary herb garden; perennial garden with peonies, roses and poppies; a heritage garden that showcases native plants; and a rock garden with more than 350 varieties of alpine plants. Meander along the paved garden trail, a longer unpaved trail through a boreal forest and a family nature trail where it's possible to see salmon spawning in Campbell Creek along with views of the Chugach Mountains. Keep in mind this is an entirely outdoor facility—snack and drink options are limited and the only toilets are port-a-potties.
