Take the elevator from Plateia Poliko Nosokomiou and discover one of the best views in the region at Akronafplia Fortress. Akronafplia is Nafplion’s oldest castle (the lower parts of its walls date back to the Bronze Age). It was used as a political prison in the early- to mid-1900s. Locate the old gateway above Hotel Marianna to see the original lion emblem.
