Palms, pool, and piña coladas at the Ace HotelThe Palm Springs Ace Hotel was once a Howard Johnson and the accompanying King's Highway Diner was once a Denny's. The Ace experience was everything we hoped for and more. Our room, complete with a private patio and fireplace, felt like a scene spliced out of Dr. No. The canvas-covered wall with French doors opening to the patio gave the space a tent-like feel, a sort of gussied-up campsite a la Moonrise Kingdom. The pool was epic. Lounging beneath the circular sun shades, we felt like we’d been plopped into a 1950s Frank Sinatra comedy. The guests were even dressed in 50s and 60s style garb, classic Ray Bans, primary-colored one pieces, slightly shorter swim trunks.

Old School Meets New School Hotel
The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs is a converted Howard Johnson that still has a cool 70s vibe with a modern flare. When you stay, you'll be among young hipsters and cool couples waiting to waste the day away poolside. The property also has a yummy restaurant, a relaxing spa, and is ripe with photo ops.
