A Close Encounter With Sea Turtles
A Close Encounter With Sea TurtlesIn the years since Rosalie Bay first launched its sea turtle conservation program on the black sand beaches of Dominica’s southeast coast, the property’s annual nest count has grown from just seven Leatherback Sea Turtle nests to upwards of 69 nests for three species of sea turtles, with a 100% survival rate of all hatchlings. Resident turtle expert Simon George leads guided walks and education efforts year round. During nesting season, which runs from March to November, Rosalie Bay offers wake-up calls for guests eager to experience the enchanting nocturnal moment when the gentle giants emerge from the sea to lay their eggs. The resort will also alert guests to when turtle nests are beginning to hatch.
