A 30 minute walk down train tracks from Otavalo will take you past farms, a small artisanal village and an ancient sundial stone monument to here, Cascada de Peguche. There are various viewpoints in front of and at the top of the 18 meter falls, which is a sacred indigenous ceremonial site. From the top look out point you can apparently rock hop through the rushing river to another falls out of view (I didn't do this but witnessed many people disappearing down the river to adventure further). There are a variety of trails allowing you to explore the lush park further and a camping area for those wanting to spend even more time. A small donation is suggested upon entering .
