Meet Baked and Wired's Sister
Tony and Teresa Velazquez, owners of the Georgetown neighborhood fixture Baked and Wired, have expanded their reach in the Mt. Vernon Triangle with a spacious 4,500 square foot bakery, coffee house, and lounge. Temporarily named "A Baked Joint" (official name yet to be determined), the bakery carries over many of Baked and Wired's signature treats (sans cupcakes) like Bee Stings, OMG Caramel S'mores, Hippie Crack granola, hand pies, brownies, cakes, and bars, but the emphasis will be on fresh handmade breads baked in-house with breakfast and lunch sandwiches, including veggie, meatloaf, chicken curry salad, and salmon with capers. In addition to offering the same coffee options as its Georgetown counterpart, the Mt. Vernon concept serves alcohol to include local beer, wine, and specialty cocktails.
