Hot goulash over an open fireThis is why I love when a trip can include intermingling with the natives and the locals.
Some of my fiance's family own homes in a small village outside of Bratislava. They built a fire, and placed this pot called a kotlik over it, cooking a combination of meat, vegetables, water, and seasonings into a beautiful soup similar to beef stew. We ate and drank like pigs, but it was an unforgettable experience.
Even now I still look to see where I could get a kotlik like that here in the USA. I so want to cook goulash over a fire one day when I have a yard.
