Whatever your destination, in Los Angeles, you’re bound to spend a significant amount of time in your car. Busy freeways are a quintessential example of the city in motion (or stalled, depending on traffic conditions!). So, while out and about on this assignment, it only seemed right to document L.A.’s car culture. I chose to incorporate the fence in this frame to add another dimension and a sense of depth. Trying something like this with a point-and-shoot is almost impossible because they typically lack a lens focus ring. The PowerShot G5 X, however, does have one, and it allowed me to override the autofocus and capture the scene exactly as I wanted.
