Food world stars flocked to Miami last week for the annual Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival. Barbecue guru Elizabeth Karmel, executive chef of NYC’s Hill Country Barbecue Market and Hill Country Chicken, had a few choice eats to recommend.

“I experienced the highlight of my bourbon-drinking life here: Makers 46 with a cinnamon water wash. I also loved the hot and spicy watermelon and Tabasco syrup that they put on their Yardbird Special.” 1600 Lenox Ave., Miami Beach, (305) 538-5220, runchickenrun.com.

La Camaronera
“Miami’s great chef Michelle Bernstein took me to this restaurant-fish market. We stood at a counter top snacking on fresh caught, just-fried shrimp and homemade tartar sauce. It was one of the most perfect meals I could ever imagine.” 1952 W. Flagler St., Miami, (305) 642-3322, lacamaronera.com.

Joe’s Stone Crab
“I loved the perfect tart and sweet, crunchy fried green tomatoes with special sauce so much that we went twice for lunch over the weekend. And who can argue with the jumbo stone crab claws.” (Shown above.) 11 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, (305) 673-0365, joesstonecrab.com
