If you’re in New York and love food, good news: 1 Hotel Central Park is coming to Midtown. Why is this good news? Well, the main reason is that this hotel, set to open at the end of this month, has given legendary chef Jonathan Waxman a new space to cook his unparalleled California-Italian mashup cuisine—a big win after the news that his famed Barbuto’s closing is imminent.
The other reason? To celebrate their upcoming opening, the hotel’s staff has offered up a community organic herb garden for New Yorkers and tourists to snip into. Yes, they’ll even provide the shears. The hotel’s staff will continue to replenish the herbs—a vast selection of plants like purple basil, sage, chives, lemongrass, oregano, and parsley—that are planted on three walls built from reclaimed wood. You’ve got until the hotel opens at the end of the month to collect a bunch, so make sure to swing by in the next couple weeks. When you’re finished making your dinner that night, snap a picture of your pretty herb garnish and use the hashtag #pick1plant1.
