The royal wedding of HRH Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is fast approaching. We know because we have it on our calendars despite having not received an official invitation. That oversight won’t keep us or thousands of others from celebrating, and a few will do it in style.
For those, there’s the five-star One Aldwych, a London hotel that has put together a Royal Wedding Celebration package available weekends through May. There’s a signature cocktail (a variation of the Royal Cup with edible gold leaf), a full English breakfast (a variation of breakfast, with beans), and a hand-tied Royal Bouquet in your room (created by Mark Siredzuk, the property’s in-house florist, of peonies and myrtle).
The hotel is in Convent Garden, an easy walk to Buckingham Palace, and is close to Waterloo Station for the train to Windsor Castle on the day of the festivities. It’s also close to the West End, many of London’s museums, and high-end boutiques of the sort that offer a “fascinator” section (on the left, just past derby attire). Be sure to choose a low-profile hat if you, like the rest of Britain, will be watching the wedding on a TV in a local public house.
The cost for an overnight package starts at £345 (US$490) a night. We’ll see you there on May 19!
