Winter won’t stop the party on the rooftop of New York City’s Made Hotel. Designed with the modern creative class in mind, the hotel’s hip Good Behavior bar sits 18 stories above 29th Street in the heart of NoMad in Manhattan. And with some festive happenings through the end of the year, it’s putting its panoramic view to good use even as the temperature drops.
Owner and developer Sam Gelin wanted to design a space where creatives could come together, and from the lobby to the guest rooms, Made is intimate, balanced, and cozy, with lots of exposed wood and cement. Good Behavior offers an easygoing, tiki-inspired environment, but features the inspired mixology of husband-and-wife barkeeps Jeremy Ortell and Natasha David.
On Christmas Day, Made’s house restaurant, Ferris, will host a lavish feast, with specialties like Duck on the Crown from executive chef Greg Proechel, formerly of New York’s Le Turtle. Then, on December 31, the hotel’s New Year’s Eve festivities start with a four-course prix fixe dinner at Ferris (two seatings: 5:30 and 8 p.m., priced at $135 and $225 per person, respectively), followed by a ticket-holders-only bash at Good Behavior ($200 per person), featuring a DJ, an open bar, bubbly at midnight, and—of course—that view.
