Charleston lures some travelers with its award-winning restaurants and craft cocktail scene. Others swoon over its pastel-hued homes and selection of antique and indie shops. Even outdoor adventurers and kids of varied ages find plenty of ways to pursue their passions.
To showcase just how much the Charleston area has to offer, we’ve launched the first-ever Charleston Insta Adventure, featuring more than 60 photos and videos that bring the destination to life—organized by theme, from Arts and Culture to Beaches and Barrier Islands.
As you tap each Instagram tile, beginning with the map pictured @charleston_insta.adventure, you’ll uncover recommended experiences and attractions, along with local history. Consider that America’s oldest landscaped gardens, its first golf course, and the site of the first fired shots of the Civil War are all found in Charleston.
You’ll meet notable locals along the way, too: Mini Hay is a fourth-generation jewelry designer bringing a fresh sensibility to Croghan’s Jewel Box, while Al Miller runs tours that provide insight into the distinctive culture of the Gullah people, descended from African slaves. You’ll also learn about events worth planning a trip around, like the Lowcountry Oyster Festival, the Holiday Festival of Lights, and Spoleto Festival USA.
The more you tap, though, the more we suspect you’ll realize it’s always a good time to visit to Charleston. And to help you get on your way, some of the Charleston Insta Adventure photos include the chance to win prizes—such as Heritage Passports that cover admission to top Charleston sites—by liking and commenting on the post.
So head on over to Instagram and let the #charlestoninstaadventure begin!
