Colin wins a five-day trip for two to Mumbai and Delhi (thanks to our partners, Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces and SWISS International Air Lines). His Highlight, of a gorgeous mess of fishing boats in a fishing village called Duong Dong on Phu Quoc, caught our collective eye for its fantastic color, and the description gave great details about the location—exactly the things we look for in a great Highlight.
We asked Colin a few questions about this Highlight, and how he travels. Between 2008 and 2011 he and his wife were teaching in Seoul, Korea. They had ample vacation time and “were in an advantageous place to be able to travel cheaply and conveniently throughout the eastern world,” says Colin. The winning Highlight image was taken in 2009—on his honeymoon.
Now Colin and his wife are settled back in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Colin is a compliance specialist for an affirmative action and equal employment opportunity compliance consulting firm. He also manages his own photography business, Colin Roohan Photography. While in Korea, he worked with a group of photographers on this collaborative book project documenting the role public transport played in their time living abroad.
Colin has posted other great Highlights on AFAR.com. Be sure to follow him—we can’t wait to see the experiences he’ll share with us from India. Congratulations, Colin!
