Less than a year after the United Arab Emirates outpost of the Louvre opened its doors, Abu Dhabi just opened yet another major attraction. On July 25, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi welcomed its first guests on Yas Island, which is also home to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld.

The $1 billion project is not only the first Warner Bros. indoor theme park, but also the world’s largest indoor theme park. At 1.65 million square feet, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi edges out the previous title holder—Dubai’s IMG Worlds of Adventure—which is only a mere 1.5 million square feet.

Inside the air-conditioned theme park, there are six different lands where visitors can explore the art deco–themed Warner Bros. Plaza or hang out with the Justice League or Batman in DC’s Metropolis and Gotham City areas. Guests will also be able to meet classic Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny in Cartoon Junction, visit the Flintstones and Rubbles in Bedrock, and ride Wile E. Coyote– and Yosemite Sam–themed attractions in Dynamite Gulch.

Gotham will feature a Batmobile-themed thrill ride.

The park will also feature 29 new rides, including Batman: Knight Flight, a roller coaster inspired by the Batmobile. Even though none of Abu Dhabi’s theme parks has broken into the Themed Entertainment Association’s annual list of the 25 most-visited amusement parks in the world, tourism in Abu Dhabi is up overall in the last year. In the first five months of 2018 alone, Abu Dhabi welcomed 82,300 travelers from the United States—an increase of more than 25 percent from last year—according to recent statistics from Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism.

How to visit: The rides and attractions at the new Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi are open every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; the shops and restaurants in Warner Bros. Plaza are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Adult admission is 295 dirhams (about US$81) and children under 3.6 feet tall can enter the park for 230 dirhams (about US$63).
