The Momofuku pork buns are ALWAYS on my list of destinations whenever I go to New York City. The tender pork belly, sweet sauce and lightly pickled cucumbers create a great delicious and addictive combination!
This place features the best ramen noodles I've ever had. The broth is heavenly, the pork belly melts in your mouth, and the atmosphere is a rarely experienced mix of Japanese kitsch and New York hipster cool. This ramen haven is going on my permanent list of places to visit each time I go to NYC!
Peruvian star chef Gaston Acurio’s newly opened cevicheria, La Mar Cebicheria Peruana. The plates at La Mar are beautiful to look at and the fluke ceviche and hamachi tiradito delicious. You should definitely have a cocktail while there! The lluvia de los andes (pisco quebranta, Japanese cucumber, basil, lime) is delicious and very potent, if you know what I mean (wink).
Best brunch I've ever had in New York! You know it’s a good restaurant when you feel like ordering everything on the menu and when you’re already planning your next visit so you can try the items you couldn’t try this time around. That is exactly how I felt the next day when we had what can only be described as the best brunch in New York at Norma’s, the restaurant located within Le Parker Meridian Hotel. It was such a nice surprise and simply exceptional! The “artychoked” benedict with truffle porcini sauce and the light and lemony griddle cakes with Devonshire cream are two note-worthy dishes but everything we had there was delicious! Reservations are an absolute must!
Dominique Ansel was a pastry chef at Fauchon in Paris and at Daniel for 6 years until he decided to open up this adorable little Parisian-style pastry shop. There you will find savory offerings for lunch but also, a beautiful array of tested and approved French pastries like kouing-amann, cannelés and his take on the Paris-Brest, the Paris-New York. I fell in love with the beautiful narrow space the minute I stepped in. Check out the open kitchen in the back where they were making cookies when I was there and the all-weather greenhouse where you can sit and enjoy your treats. The “mini-me” colourful miniature meringues are so cute you won’t be able to resist buying a few packages of those, I’m sure.
Christina Tosi, the pastry chef at Momofuku, is a genius in my humble opinion. These cake truffles may look innocent enough but they are absolutely delicious. It's all in the texture and the classic flavours. Give the birthday cake ones a try and buy a few bags to take home, I always regret not having bought enough!
If you are looking for an unforgettable meal in the city that never sleeps, then a stop at Eleven Madison Park is a must. EMP has gathered many accolades this past year, including 3 Michelin stars and a James Beard award. The food is outstanding and the service impeccable. It's one of my favourite restaurants in the world!
This tiny little place makes porchetta sandwiches and roasted potatoes, that's it! And when they run out of sandwiches, they close the place down. It's absolutely delicious!
These are some of the best "fast" food burgers in the country! There's always aline up but it's worth it! Their milkshake and frozen custards are also a must.
Don't be fooled by its Betty Crocker look, this cake is absolutely delicious, deeply chocolatey and instantly addictive! Everything at the Two Little Red Hens is delicious but this cake is definitely a favourite.
