Grabbing an ice cream from the Boulevard Ice Cream shop on the corner of the Kursaal couldn't be better accompanied by one of the most beautiful sunsets of Spain. Sitting on the wall along the mouth of the river where it meets the ocean, the sunset is always a delight to watch in this small beach city.
Nothing screams typical New England more than Kennebunkport, Maine. Spend an afternoon walking around Dock Square and all the little shops tucket away in these old wood buildings. Grab lunch at one of the many amazing restaurants in town and then watch the sunset from one of the beaches just around the corner.
Ask any local how to get to Picnic Rock and they'll be able to tell you no problem! If you don't have access to a car, rent a kayak in town and paddle up river until you stumble upon this giant rock in the middle of the river. It's always full with locals diving in to cool off from the summer heat!

From free concerts on the beach to private shows in the city's beautiful theatres, the Donostia-San Sebastian International Jazz Festival is going on its 49th year this 2014. Headlining artists in the past include: Sonny Rollins, Van Morrison, Joe Cocker, and Jamie Cullum to name a few.
As the spring weather starts to grace the city, so does music in the park -- a local tradition bringing everyone together to share in the good old fashioned picnic. The Musika Parkean (in Basque!) changes location throughout the city taking advantage of the beautiful parks throughout the city. Make sure you find out when the next concert is and don't miss out if you're passing Donosti!
Just a 20 min drive by car or a short ride on the train, this quaint french beach town sits just North of Donostia-San Sebastian in the French Basque Country. This small town offers beautiful views and delicious restaurants to choose from to make this a wonderful spot to "get a way" while on your holiday. Stroll down the long walkway along the beach or through the stone streets in the centre.
In the winter months if you're lucky to pass through while the weather is nice, the sunsets are best to watch from the Port. While there are many pretty spots to watch the sun go down behind the mountains, the Port also offers a variety of bars and restaurants to fill your cravings of seafood and drink!
When the night skies are clear, it's always lovely to walk along the river that passes through Donostia-San Sebastian. Called "Little Paris" for a reason, separated by the river resemble to romantic capital of Paris. The lights glowing and reflecting off the water offer an unforgettable ambiance! The Kursaal - the Cube on the beach - also glows in the evenings offering a guiding light towards the coast of the city.
Talk about bringing out your inner child! Take the funicular up Mount Igeldo for spectacular views of the beautiful city. Just 3euro up and down, it'll be worth the walk / bus ride (the local bus and tour bus both pass the front doors!) to take a ride up this old wooden funicular. On top you'll be greeted with great views and an old amusement park where you can jump on the wooden roller coaster or drive old-fashioned bumper cars!
After travelling in the fun[icular] to the top of Mount Igeldo, take in the views of the beautiful Basque coastal town. If you can pull yourself away from the views, you'll realize there's a small amusement park and cafe on top as well ! Don't forget your camera!!
In the summer Donostia-San Sebastian celebrates the wonderful weather like no other place in Spain! The local neighborhood festivities vary from week to week -- but don't miss the free concerts and outside bars set up int The Port during the Festival del Carmen del Muelle!
Moody Beach is a private beach in the town of Wells, Maine. Located next to the quant downtown of Ogunquit, Maine there is plenty to do including various options of casual dining to five star restaurants. The Ogunquit playhouse is also atop destination for tourists.
I headed to Cuenca to view the famous "las casas colgadas" -- or the "hanging houses." However, just a little further up the hill these beautifully colored houses sit waiting to be photographed.
After exploring the city located just 70km south of Madrid, we sat on a park bench and watched as the sun slowly moved below the horizon casting the golden-pink haze across the city.
While jogging, walking, or racing around Back Bay be sure to take a moments break to embrace the skyline of Portland, Maine. Although it's not a city full of skyscrapers -- the small New England city has some great little hidden gems.
Walking from Salthill to Galway along the Seapoint Promenade I felt the clouds start to pass over the sun and as I turned around I snapped this beautiful shot. It still takes my breath away every time I look at it. It reminds me of that exact moment: how happy I was, how beautiful the moment felt, how I was about to set off on a huge adventure all alone. I feel as if that one tree represents everything about me in that moment.
Sitting on the rocks, eating gelato, and talking with my Italian Couch Surfing host we watched the sun set over the small port behind the mountains.
