What meals do you dream about? Is there a secret to finding or making it? I'm currently dreaming about Parisian cheese, cioppino in San Francisco, Moroccan tajine, New York pizza, Vietnamese pho, and Spanish tapas… Delicious!

I dream about Italian olive and Italian vino, Irish brown soda bread and tea, Turkish meze and a good Greek salad. I am now officially hungry!

Add a commentThese are some of my favorites too! What is Irish brown soda?

Oh man, I miss Greek salads in Greece. So simple and yet they don't taste the same anywhere else.

Irish brown soda bread is the soda bread but made with a heartier flour to make it even tastier! And yes, Lauren, I agree that a Greek salad only tastes good in Greece!

Thanks Lynne, hm I'll have to try that someday!
On the topic of salad I disagree with both of you– Greek salad is best in Greece but I can make/find something pretty deliciously close in SF. This sounds like a challenge!

Llapingachos in Ecuador while sitting on the balcony of a little cafe and looking down into the street as the night starts to heat up, chocolate and churros in Spain in the morning on the edge of the public square, scrambled eggs at home on my own couch with a steaming cup of hot coffee :)

Absolutely New York Pizza; San Francisco Sourdough Bread; Portuguese Ginginha, Vinho Verde, Presunto Ham and Octopus grilled to perfection. Boston Clam Chowder, Parisian Cheeses, Croissants, Bordeaux, Baguettes, Pates and Cafe Creme. One of the best parts of traveling is all the marvelous food and drink!

All day, everyday, since leaving Korea I miss Korean food.
My mouth waters thinking about the dishes I used to be able to find on a fraction to the dollar. Everything is fresh and there are rarely additives.
A soup of spicy pork, kimchi, and broth ladled over a bed of rice, then topped with some dried laver, is the most ridiculously perfect winter meal I have ever had in my life.

Add a commentOnce my mother was stopped at customs because she had a huge ball of Kimchi wrapped in at least 20 layers of saran wrap. A very suspicious package. Thank goodness they let her take it home because it was the best I've ever tasted!

I dream about the fresh bread that was delivered to our villa in Tuscany every morning, that we'd eat with the most flavorful meats and cheeses and bottles of wine every day. I dream about my grandmother's lau lau (pork and butter fish steamed all day in tea leaves and banana leaves). I dream about all the pho I will eat in Vietnam one day...

Add a commentPho in Vietnam. YES. Banh mi's from a street cart too. And then pad thai while sitting on a curb on Koh San Road in Bangkok at about 2AM with all the neon lights and rowdy tourists. So. Good.

Lauren will you have your grandmas lau lau next week when you go visit? Can you bring us back a recipe?!

I am revisiting Spain this summer for the first time after studying there 12 years ago. More than anything else, I am excited to eat! Olives, Spanish omelet, jamon serrano, chorizo, manchego cheese, and my favorite, Galician octopus. All washed down with a nice glass of wine. Spanish food is the best!

Add a commentTwo things especially!
1. Tunisian sandwiches with french fries in the middle. There is some sort of spicy paste in the middle made with eggplant. You can ask for anything from the bins behind the glass to be put in the fresh pita pocket. Mine was flaky tuna, mayo, and some vegetables I think. Unforgettable
2. Malaysian soups. Especially Nyona Laksa, also known as Curry Laksa, or just Laksa. It's the coconut curry broth soup that they make in Malaysia, often with cockles, shrimp, fresh leafs on top, gosh knows what else is in there but god is it tasty
