Taking a small group (8) to Palm Springs in early December. Any recommendations on unique experiences (culture, food, entertainment)?

The tram is gorgeous ride (bring jacket and scarf, gloves etc no matter what but especially if you want to hike around a bit when up there. It was freezing even in june!) Amazing restaurant at the top of tram. Don't be deterred. Go up the stairs and walk all the way to back. It's not cheap but views are stunning and food fairly decent if a bit expensive.

The Colony Palms Hotel is gorgeous with equally gorgeous crowd and very fun Sunday jazz brunch. Cheekie's by far some of best food for breakfast and lunch. Almost NYC good. The adjoining restaurant Birba has cool outdoor area and delicious pizzas and salads and beer and wine and cocktails. VEry much the scene, but laid back.

The Parker Hotel has mind-blowing spa and Norma's restaurant there is decadent. Walk around the grounds, take a private yoga class with your friends.

You an take an architecture tour with Keith Markowitz of Capetis/Sotheyby's. Just call him there. You will see the most fab/glam houses in all of PS.

If you're feeling energetic defintiely trek to Joshua Tree. It's not that far and awes inspiring. Like walking around in a red desert dream.

A trip to the Salton Sea is pretty amazing. On the way you can get date shakes at Shields Date Gardens.

If there are kids involved, the Discovery Museum and the Living Desert (both in Palm Desert) are fun.

The Follies show is a kick.  www.psfollies.com     Open market at College of the Desert.   Spencers Restaurant at the Mountain for the old hollywood feel.  We enjoyed going to Real Estate open houses.  Fabulous architecture and old world glamour and class of old hollywood estates.   It is definitely a retirement, golf and party community.  Lots of very good restaurants.
