Planning on travelling to Seoul solo during the Chinese National Holiday (3-7 October are tentative dates) -- any suggestions? Restaurants, must-see tourist spots, and anything to help me get a vibe for the city & South Korea would be much appreciated; thanks!

Since your time is limited, one place you should absolutely go to in Seoul to get a feel for the history of the city is Changdeok-gung palace and the adjacent Huweon (sometimes called 'Biwon') garden. The intimacy of the gardens makes it hard to believe you're in the middle of South Korea's frenetic capital. By October, the leaves may have begun to turn, too...Namdaemun market is a must, too--both for street-food and also for seeing how locals shop. Adjacent to Namdaemun market is the upscale Shinsegae department store--a fun contrast from the street-scene to highbrow Korean consumer trends...The Bukchon neighborhood between Changdeokgung and Gyeongbokgung has some great restaurants and galleries.

Nightlife spots are:
Itaewon (mostly foreigners)
Gangnam (high society)
Hongdae (college/young crowd) - offers cheapest option, Itaewon mid and Gangnam will require your first born's college fund (haha, but still fun).
My Favorite spots:
ITAEWON: Between (trendy restaurant, best for brunch but dinner is good too)

GANGNAM: ELLUI (Korea's biggest nightclub), 2 rooms with different styles - best served Sat night) https://www.facebook.com/ellui.go
