No idea what you're into, but I'd say just go to the Castro.

San Francisco has so much to offer; it really depends on what you're looking for - music, crowds, neighborhood vibes. Each one is different.

The short list:
The Mission district is my favorite. There are so many great restaurants and bars, from divey to clubby.
If you're into the dance clubs and DJ shows, I would head to SOMA .
Polk Street has a variety of bars and seems to be a bustling nightlife.
The Castro is also very fun. :)
