I'll be visiting San Francisco in a few weeks and need to plan an activity for myself and a friend. I'm thinking some kind of sailing experience around San Francisco. What's the best (and affordable) way to make that happen?

The adventure cat (http://www.adventurecat.com) is one of the fairly cheap alternatives to the more pricey charter options and is a great way to spend a few hours on the bay. Another option might be taking the ferry from the Ferry building to Sausalito and back. Although it isn't really sailing, the ferry is certainly the most affordable way to get out on the water.
