I proposed to my wife on Ko Chang, Thailand. She wasn't expecting it and made it very memorable. We both both love the beach so for me there wasn't any other way.

soooo as a woman who LOVES travel and surprises... i can not say i've thought about particulars but there are a few guidelines i could suggest: somewhere outside among beautiful scenery. somewhere where yall will be alone or at least removed enough so you are not surrounded by people. ok so maybe i haaaave thought about this. my ideal proposal would be after a nice hike to a beautiful peak or waterfall and have a backpack with a little picnic in it - at least some champagne or a nice bottle of wine! good luck. sounds like you are on the right track already!

How cute is this question?!! My advice - don't plan too much or expect it to be perfect. Traveling already puts you in a heightened state of emotion and energy. So when you find a quiet, reflective moment, all you'll need to do is speak from the heart. That's all she'll need :)
