My wife and I went there in 2007 and had a great time. We stayed at Riu Tropical Bay just a little North of Negril. The all-inclusive was fun, but we went out and saw Negril and did a few excursions as well. If you do stay all-inclusive you definately have to get out and see the culture. You won't see the true culture if you just stay at the resort the whole time. Just be careful though if you go to the local craft market. They have some pretty cool things, but they are incredibly pushy as far as getting you to buy them. They also will expect a tip for everything. We did horseback riding on the beach, and we even swam with the horses. It was amazing. We did a waterfall hike. We went scuba diving. We went into Negril and saw the village. All in all Jamaica is a fun place to visit.

I went in April & stayed at Rockhouse, which was pretty great.  You should check out Pushcart, one of its restaurants.  The hotel was not an all-inclusive, but we did eat at the hotel a lot because the food & service was by far the best we experienced in Negril.  One of my favorite things was a sunset booze cruise.  Bourbon Beach is a place you can catch live reggae/ Bob Marley cover bands.  Three Dives was a decent seafood place.  Sunday nights there’s a dance party on the beach in Norman Manley Park. We heard about it and arranged for the cab that dropped us off to come back to get us at a fixed time.  I thought it was interesting, but it is VERY local (we were quite possibly the only tourists there) so it may not be for everyone.
