Going to Switzerland on Thursday and I'm looking for one fine dining experience to splurge on. Where's the best place to have one ridiculous "I'm eating at a fancy restaurant in Europe" experience? We'll be in Zurich, Geneva, Zermatt, Locarno, and Murren.

Two places in Geneva that we love when we want "fancy" -- La Perle du Lac, situated in the Mon Repos Park off Rue Lausanne, overlooking Lake Geneva with views of the Alps and Mont Blanc (on a clear day). If the weather is warm ask for a table on the outdoor terrace; second place is more of a cold weather 'fancy' -- Restaurant Les Armures in the old city (1 rue Puits St. Pierre) where you can have fondue and raclette in a very fancy setting.

Add a commentDepends if you are looking for a tourist type place or a place locals would eat. Have a look at the Lion D'Or in Cologny (ref novel of Paul Coelho Eleven Minutes) which is a also in a lovely location overlooking the lake(opposite side from La Perle du Lac). You could also try the restaurant in the Park des Eaux Vives which has a fabulous and chic restaurant. Have fun!
