If you are even remotely a foodie, La Boqueria market (http://www.boqueria.info/) is a must -- some of the best live action food porn in the world. My favorite time to go is in the morning to have breakfast, watch the market come to life, and watch all the locals meet up and gossip. One of my favorite restaurants is Tapas 24 (http://www.tapas24.net/), which is a mashup of a traditional tapas bar and contemporary Spanish/Catalan cooking. It was started by a longtime El Bulli alum to offer this kind of cooking and high quality ingredients at reasonable prices. I shared 12 dishes plus a bottle of wine for about $80 total. Sample dish: kobe beef slider with foie gras and truffle.

Another great place is an asian tapas bar called Mosquito. Small, lively, and busy every time we've been. Fantastic dumplings.
While walking about sight-seeeing, it became a game to point out/discover Gaudi's creations; from Parc Guell, to Pedrera to lampposts on the Ramblas. (Sagrada Familia is awesome when you round the corner and it looms in the distance)
Best way to soak up the life, if you have time, is to buy a loaf of bread, some fruit, cheese, meats and a cheap bottle of wine. Head to a park or maybe the beach and watch the world go by for a few hours.
If you have even more time, a drive down the coast is memorable with the mountains on one side and the mediterranean on the other. Enjoy! Glad to say I've been there,

My niece & I took an evening tour of the old town with "Hi! This is Barcelona!" http://www.hithisisbarcelona.com/index.php
Our walking tour began at 8pm and ended in Barcelonetta with seafood tapas around 1am. It was a great way to get our bearings early in our visit.

Is it your first time in Barcelona? Are you on budget o not so much;)? You should visit one of the Gaudí's houses: La Casa Batlló is the most beautiful I think and unique in the world. For tapas, I would go to Origéns (www.llavordelsorigens.com). It's a good catalan food and wine restaurant and a very nice place. There are various restaurants (see website). Prices are correct (average). For drinks at night, I would hang out in The Raval quarter (best area in town to have drinks), the street Joaquin Costa has many bars. I am sure you will find one you like and you can have a feel for the city atmosphere.

Rise up to the 26th floor to W's ultra-exclusive Eclipse,, inspired by its stunning Mediterranean setting and inherently London personality. The feel is VERY Flirty with a touch of whimsy and everyone is Beautiful and has STYLE. You can call to be put on the list... And, dont go before 1am... AJOCONNELL
