Alpine Adventure at its Best
For a testing, arduous and ultimately gratifying tour look no further than the Haute Route. This ultimate alpine adventure, beginning in Chamonix (France) and ending in Zermatt, can be undertaken either on foot, which will take 12 days, or on skis, which takes seven. In summer the route can be tackled by any hiker in good physical condition, whereas in winter, terrain is much more difficult meaning ski touring equipment is needed. Days will be spent traversing vast trails, descending slopes and navigating glaciers. While at night, rest is taken in various alpine huts scattered amongst the towering mountains. In terms of ski touring, the Haute Route is simply the greatest on earth.
