If I were in New York, Tokyo or Toronto, this may be the case, but not in sleepy Ottawa! Canada’s capital is a diamond in the rough when it comes to culinary culture. No restaurant shines as bright as Zen Kitchen, the first and only vegan restaurant in town. Don’t let this humble little restaurant fool you; what is hidden inside is nothing short of amazing. Owner Dave Loan and his expert staff create the perfect mix of flavor and ambiance. This restaurant prepares local ingredients in culinary styles that infuse flavors from Mexico to Thailand. In addition the way the restaurants pays close attention to food ailments such as gluten intolerance or nut allergies makes the food they prepare just that much more special. Strongly recommended for first time diners are the local heirloom tomato bruschetta, Mexican inspired sopé and Thai-inspired lemongrass curry. For dessert do not skip on the warm chocolate cake with Mexican chocolate sauce.
