"Vegan" and "cheesecake" don't always go hand in hand, nor do they typically produce lip-smacking results. But Zen Palate does everything right, to the very last dessert crumb. I discovered this gem years ago in Manhattan, and it has always comforted and soothed me, in its fail-safe way, because the food is almost always perfect and the price is so reasonable.
If you visit, also consider the bento box–style entrees, which come complete with basil moo shu rolls or spring rolls, and always with salad.
The dessert highlight is the Blueberry Cheesecake, which doesn't taste the least bit vegan. Creamy and rich, the cheesecake pairs perfectly with the big fat organic blueberries and sauce draped all over it.
One may just not be enough.
