I spent many days searching for the perfect *chocolate y churros*. I scoured many travel guides, spoke to many locals, and researched--a lot.
Somehow, two of the places that were high on a list of recommendations were both closed when I was in Barcelona, but one location was open and more than willing to let me experience their culinary speciality: Petritxol C/ Petritxol, 11.
The *chocolate y churros* situation is a delicate one; you must have both crunchy and sweet churros, and a thick hot chocolate. I received my chocolate minus the famous "thick cream topping" and asked if there was a possibility if I could have mine with "the cream?" The woman behind the counter quickly grabbed my mug and layered the cream on top with a smile. It was, just, WOW.
As a fan of dark, bittersweet chocolate to begin with, the *chocolate caliente* was a perfect accent to the sugar-drenched churros.
Lord, now I know why it's so addictive.
But if I had to pick a place to get addicted, it'd be Petritxol. I don't want to be cured.
