When reminiscing on childhood activities in my hometown, most of my memories take place at Woodland Park. When I was young, I took ice-skating lessons and as I got older, it became tradition to skate on the pond every year. This is a popular place for locals because skating is free, there's a warming hut, constant mini hockey games, and a sledding hill that spills right onto the ice. Check out the telephone poles around the pond, there's a sign that let's everyone know if the ice is safe. Bring your own skates or rent them from Wheaton's downtown for $5.
