Teddy Bears in the Wilds of Canada's NWT
In August we visited Hay River in the Northwest Territories of Canada. One day our hosts treated us to a trip to Wood Buffalo National Park. Before we came upon the bison we saw this unexplained collection. There in the middle of nowhere was this amazingly long stretch of Teddy Bears and other stuffed animals sitting along the side of Highway #5. Some were sitting on chairs, some laying in bushes. No one seems to know the rationale behind this unusual display which the local folks reported had been there for several years. This was a Friendship Force exchange, where we stayed with a local family for a week during which they shared their life and special sites with us.
