There are not many places where one can be a few feet away from a pack of hungry wolves and not feel like 'dinner', but Wolf Park, in Battleground, IN happens to be one of them.
The center is home to research on wolf behavior -- its employees and volunteers kindly share their knowledge with visitors to the park, giving demos and leading tours around the seven acres of the wolf enclosure. The park is also home to coyotes, bison, and foxes in different areas.
On certain evenings, especially under a full moon, the public is invited to a take a guided 1/2 mile hike around the wolf enclosure, to experience a howl -- as close as you'll likely ever get.
They are truly beautiful and intriguing animals, and Wolf Park provides an opportunity to meet them on their turf.
